CHFD Engine Company SOPs

For those members not at the drill and also for our mutual aid departments here is a quick review of the CHFD Engine Company SOPs.

* CHFD uses seating assignments (Driver, Officer, Hydrant, Nozzle, Hose, Force/Vent). Each position has a defined role, equipment & portable.

* 1st due Engine to tap hydrant/lay in on reports of smoke. 2nd due Engine has 3 primary assignments (Rescue, 2nd water supply & Attack). 3rd due Engine supplements (ex. If 2nd due committed to water supply, 3rd due advances to attack).

* 1st due Engine to take FDC w/ dedicated water supply on commercial sprinklered buildings in 1st due. Minimum 3" @ 150 psi.

* Handline positioning guidelines:

Line # 1
Placed between the fire and any life hazard. If no life hazard, placed between the fire and most severe exposure.
Line # 2
Floor above fire
Line # 3
Placed as a back-up to line #1 or to protect the interior stairwell. (note: should be from a 2nd Engine with separate water source)
Line # 4
Back-up Line #2 on floor above fire
