8/14 SAFER Grant

I am happy to announce that today the Colchester Fire Department was awarded a SAFER grant that will allow for the hiring of 4 additional firefighters.

BUT we need YOUR help. Our Finance Board has expressed some reservation to the acceptance of this highly competitive grant despite their earlier approval. Colchester volunteers and career staff have always maintained a professional, cooperative working relationship allowing for a high level of emergency service to the community. This grant is essential in maintaining the critical balance between career and volunteer staffing that allows us to provide adequate emergency service to the community in a safe and cost effective manner. I invite anyone wishing to support this grant to attend the Town Board of Finance meeting this coming Wednesday August 19th 19:00 at Colchester Town Hall.
